BUYING FAQ'S
General Buying & Bidding
Only businesses acting within the scope of their trade, business, or profession can register and bid. Consumers (individuals not acting in a business context) are excluded.
There is no specified minimum order quantity or spend, subject to the minimum bid that applies for any lot in an auction; please note that lots/pallets may not be split.
Yes, you can bid on or make offers to buy multiple lots. If you win or your offers are accepted for multiple lots, you will be responsible for making payment of the total price of each lot, including additonal costs such as buyer’s premium and delivery.
You will need to arrange separate deliveries or collections for each location, with associated costs for each lot. We are unable to combine delivery of items from different sites.
Returns, Disputes & Support
There is no right to cancel the contract once the auction for a lot has ended and the highest bidder has won a lot. Goods are sold “as seen”, with no returns unless otherwise explicitly agreed.
Issues should be raised directly with John Pye & Sons; its decision is final, except in case of manifest error or negligence.
Failure to pay for items won may result in your account being restricted, possible legal action or refusal to accept future bids or offers to purchase that you wish to make.
Delivery & Collection
We offer a number of types of delivery options within the UK, appropriate to the size and quantity of items to be delivered. At present, we do not offer international delivery, but we can arrange delivery to any location nationally. International delivery arrangements and costs must be handled by the buyer.
Buyers can either collect their items in person, or pay for JPS to arrange delivery; it is not possible to send a third party agent or freight forwarder to our sites to collect your items.
Delivery on a specific day or at a specific time may be possible by negotiation with John Pye & Sons, but we are unable to guarantee this. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Collection / delivery should be arranged promptly after your offer has been accepted or the auction has ended (as appropriate). Timelines for collection will be set by John Pye & Sons based on the type of goods and circumstances specific to the premises where they are located. For Buyers of items from a Buy Now Trade sale, the applicable times for delivery will be communicated to you by John Pye & Sons and the delivery carrier. For sales from auctions, please see the Auction FAQs -https://www.johnpye.co.uk/delivery/
Product Information & Condition
Unless otherwise stated, goods are typically Secondary, this could include second-hand, salvaged, repossessed, ex-display, overstocks or seized. All items are sold “as seen,” with no grading or guarantee of condition
Goods are sold without warranties, conditions, or guarantees, unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing.
Yes, where viewing of items at a John Pye site is offered, buyers may inspect and test most goods before making an offer, although clearly there are limitations, for example, testing electrical goods that require plumbing or use gas. If there are multiple items on one pallet, it may not be possible to test all items on a pallet. Viewing is unlikely to be possible if items for sale are located offsite, including at our vendor’s premises.
Yes, you can request additional information or images of a lot by contacting us at trade@johnpye.com. These will be provided at the discretion of John Pye & Sons.
