Accounts, invoicing & vat

Yes, each item sold will be shown on your statement of account.

The hammer price or Buy Now price represents the value of the goods only. A buyer’s premium, delivery charges (where applicable), and VAT are added on top of this price. VAT is also applied to the buyer’s premium and delivery charges.

John Pye will deduct an agreed commission from the proceeds of the sale, with VAT charged on that commission. No additional costs will be charged to the seller unless arising from manifest error or negligence, in which case any applicable charges will be deducted from the vendor payout

Vendor proceeds are paid in accordance with the agreed settlement terms following receipt of cleared buyer funds. Payment will be made net of agreed commission and applicable VAT.

Yes. Vendors do not need to be VAT registered to sell goods on the platform. VAT will only be applied where applicable based on the nature of the goods and the transaction.

DELIVERY, COLLECTION & CONFIDENTIALITY

Delivery costs are typically charged to the buyer and added on top of the sale price. Vendors are not responsible for arranging or funding delivery unless otherwise agreed.

Buyers are not permitted to collect goods from your premises. For confidentiality and security reasons, delivery is organised by John Pye through its appointed haulier.

Vendors are not permitted to organise delivery themselves. All logistics are handled by John Pye to protect confidentiality and provide a smooth, secure process.

No. Currently, John Pye Trade only facilitates the sale and delivery of goods to and from mainland UK locations.

Compliance & Legal Requirements

No. Vendors do not need to be VAT-registered to sell on John Pye Trade. VAT will be applied where relevant based on the nature of the goods and the transaction, and will be clearly shown on invoices.

Vendors are responsible for ensuring that all goods listed comply with UK trade laws and regulations. This includes accurate product descriptions, lawful ownership, and adherence to any restrictions or licensing requirements.

Yes. Certain goods may be restricted or prohibited from sale due to legal, safety, or regulatory reasons. Vendors must ensure their stock meets all applicable requirements before listing. Your dedicated account manager can provide guidance if needed.

John Pye Trade operates under strict regulatory and legal frameworks. We monitor listings to ensure compliance, provide guidance to vendors, and implement processes to protect both buyers and sellers. Any non-compliant items may be removed or restricted from sale.

SELLING PROCESS & LISTING MANAGEMENT

Yes, you can sell stock directly from your own premises. Alternatively, subject to availability, you may have the option to deliver goods to a John Pye site for sale.

When selling goods from your own premises, you must provide all information required under the vendor agreement. You also warrant that the details supplied are accurate and correspond to the listing.

Yes, listings can be updated for items being sold via a Buy Now sale. Please contact your dedicated account manager to make changes, such as adjusting quantities or updating images. Please note that any changes to the goods without notification may result in closure of the current listing or termination of the sale relationship.

There is no set time limit, but we usually list items in a Buy Now sale for up to three weeks before considering further options, including moving them to sale in an auction.

No. Goods can be listed on the Trade platform at a fixed Buy Now price. If items do not sell, we may recommend adjusting the price or moving them to an auction, typically without a reserve.

You may offer your goods for sale through other channels; however, it is your responsibility to inform John Pye of any such changes. If the goods are sold elsewhere, please notify us immediately so we can update or remove the listing as appropriate. John Pye Trade reserves the right to continue selling the goods unless instructed otherwise.

If your listing receives little or no interest, your dedicated account manager will work with you to determine the best course of action to increase visibility. This may include adjusting the price, enhancing the description of the goods, or providing additional promotional support.

MARKETING & EXPOSURE

Yes. John Pye Trade promotes your stock through targeted marketing campaigns, including platform placements and promotional emails, to reach our trade buyer audience.

John Pye Trade markets goods to a curated network of verified trade buyers via targeted campaigns, newsletters, social media, and platform placements. This ensures your stock reaches the most relevant audience.

High-quality images, detailed descriptions, and accurate categorisation improve visibility. Your account manager can also advise on pricing, promotional features, or enhanced campaigns to attract more trade buyers.

Selected stock may be highlighted in promotional campaigns, newsletters, or on key platform pages to increase exposure. Placement is determined by John Pye Trade based on relevance and promotional strategy.
